Homework

At Westminster Primary School homework is considered very important.

Following research and a review of the impact of homework, children are expected to read their book and practise their times-tables as well as their spellings, every day. They are tested on their times-tables and their spellings weekly. In addition to this, children complete a termly project. These vary according to the topics that children are learning about. The projects have been enthusiastically received by children and parents, as they provide an opportunity for parents to become involved with the children's learning

Children from nursery to year 4 have a Home / School Reading Record. We encourage parents to comment on their child's reading a minimum of three times per week for children in years 1 to 4. Children in years 5 and 6 have a Reading Response Book. They are expected to complete a short reading response activity twice per week.

We value and encourage comments from families supporting their children at home.
