CORONAVIRUS SYMPTOMS AND PROCEDURES
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Covid –19 symptoms
The most common symptoms are:
· A new continuous cough and/or
· Fever (high temperature of 37.8 degrees or higher)
· Loss of smell or taste.
If your child has any of these symptoms, the government guidance states that you must keep your child at home and arrange for them to have a coronavirus test. You must also keep any other siblings at home as well until the result of the coronavirus test comes through. If the test is negative, then the children can return to school. If the test is positive, then the affected child must stay at home for 10 days from the day symptoms started. The rest of the household including other siblings will also have to self-isolate for 14 days. If any other member of the household develops symptoms, then they should also get tested. Again if the test is positive, then that household member must self-isolate for 10 days from the day symptoms started.
If a child develops symptoms in school, they will be escorted to a separate room and parents called. Any other siblings in school (even those who may not have symptoms) will also be sent home. Again parents will need to arrange a coronavirus test for the affected child. If the test comes back positive, please notify the school as soon as possible. In this instance, the year group bubble that the affected child was being taught in will also have to self-isolate for 14 days. This includes all pupils and staff.

Use of face coverings
At the moment, the use of face coverings on the school site is only compulsory for Nursery parents. Currently there is a rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the Birmingham area. If there is a significant increase in the next few days, we may ask all parents/carers entering the school site to start wearing face coverings. This will also apply to staff in school.
If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the senior leadership team in school.
